Office of the Manitoba Fairness Commissioner

Preparation and SupportThe more prepared a person is for assessment, the greater their chance of success.

The Manitoba government funds a number of support programs to help internationally educated professionals in Manitoba prepare for assessment. Manitoba also offers financial assistance to cover costs such as application fees, licensing exams, and study materials. Unfortunately, many internationally educated professionals are unaware of these supports. Regulators are often their first point of contact. It is important that regulators have the information so people get the support they need at the start of the QR process.

Help internationally educated professionals tap into Manitoba supports.

Ways to get there…

  • Exchange up-to-date information with stakeholders who provide supports to internationally educated professionals
  • Provide information such as fact sheets, resource guides and lists of supports
  • Hold orientation sessions and professional practice seminars to help applicants understand your registration process, methods of assessment, and workplace expectations
  • Create observerships to help determine if a potential applicant can expect to be recognized and work in their profession
  • Make connections with employers to establish mentorship programs
  • Participate in gap or bridge programs
  • Provide opportunities to gain Canadian work experience
  • Teach exam strategies and provide exposure to your various forms of testing
